Version History

A forecast pulls together data from multiple streams and stream groups, evolving as updates are made to improve cash flow predictions. Since managing a forecast is often a team effort, with some members updating data and others reviewing it, access to version history is crucial. It provides users with a clear view of how stream values have changed over time, making it easier to understand how those shifts influence future cash flow projections.

When is a new forecast version created?

A forecast automatically creates a new version at the end of each day if any of the following updates occur in the forecast or its underlying data streams:

  • A user updates the root value in one of the streams included in the forecast.

    • Note: Fluctuations in FX rates will not trigger a new version.

  • A user changes the forecast settings.

How to View Version History

  1. Go to your forecast library and select a forecast.

  2. Click the three dots to access the forecast settings, then choose Version History.

  3. The Version History panel will appear on the right side of the screen.

  4. Click any version to view its values in the chart and data table on the left.

Version History Options

To manage a version, click the three dots next to it to see more options:

  • Name Version - assign a custom name to any version. Named version will automatically be organized under the “Named Versions” filter at the top of the list.

  • View version audit - See all of the individual changes made in the selected version compared to the previous one.

Multi-Version Comparison

With Multi-Version Comparison, you can overlay multiple version values into your current data table to easily track how values have changed over time.

Steps to Create a Multi-Version Comparison

  1. Click the icon with the two arrows located above the data table. A list of All Versions will appear, with an option to filter for Named Versions.

  2. Select one or more versions you want to compare and click Apply.

  3. The forecast will update, and clock icons will appear next to streams and stream groups.

  4. Click the clock icon to expand and view version values over time. The newest version will always appear above the older versions.

Calculating Differences in Forecasted Values

When comparing versions, you can calculate the difference in forecasted values between two versions for a specific stream or stream group.

  1. Select the forecast area you want to compare using the dropdown next to “Difference Calculation.”

  2. In the two rows below, choose the versions you want to compare from the dropdown lists.

  3. The bottom row will show the numerical difference between the two versions. Negative changes are displayed in red, and positive changes are shown in green.
