Table of Contents
Overview
When you log in, the Home page welcomes you with three main sections:
Account Summary: An interactive, birds eye view of your core data.
Balances and Transactions Widgets: Provide different perspectives of your core data directly from the Home page. The cadence of the widgets automatically updates to comfortably summarize larger date ranges.
Recently Viewed: Displays the report objects you’ve recently accessed.
Filtering
To personalize your Home page and display only the accounts that matter most to you, click the Filter Accounts button and select the accounts you want to include. This selection is saved at a user level and will automatically update all content on your Home page to reflect your selections.
NOTE: This setting is unique to your Trovata view and won't affect your colleagues' Home pages.
Setting a Date Range
The date selector at the top of the page will always display the last 30 days by default. Editing the date range will automatically update all content on your Home page, but keep in mind that the date range will reset to the last 30 days when you leave the page.
Account Summary
The Account Summary widget offers a high-level, interactive view of your core data and is the centerpiece of the Home page experience.
Review Historical Periods
By default, this widget displays the last 30 days of data and pins to the most recently completed period, which is typically yesterday. This ensures you’re seeing the most complete data, as current-day reporting updates throughout the day. In the widget, current-day values are shaded grey to reflect this.
The chart is interactive, allowing you to explore historical periods or the current period. Clicking on a period will pin it and dynamically update the metrics at the top of the module for Total Cash, Net Cash Flow, Inflows, and Outflows.
Each of these metrics is clickable, linking you to more detailed views of your data, either in Analysis for Total Cash or the Transactions dialog for cash flow metrics. Trend metrics will always display the period-over-period change.
Account Summary Preferences
Choose a new Group By option from the dropdown menu. Your selection will be saved for future visits.
Note: the Cadence to view your data will not be saved and resets to “daily” each time you view the Home Page.
Digging into the Data
You can easily explore specific groups by clicking on any group listed below the chart. This will update the chart to show only that group’s metrics and the accounts that belong to it, giving you a focused view of that part of your data.
AI Insights
AI Insights gives you an immediate diagnostic on the health of your treasury.
As an alternative option to navigating through reports and building queries to answer basic questions, AI Insights surfaces some of these answers automatically. Five insight cards cover your data integrity, transaction health & categories, currency exposure, and cash positioning. Also, built-in AI chat lets you go deeper on anything you see.
AI Insights is available to all Trovata customers on the Home page (if your organization allows it — if not, you can send us a message when you'd like to enable it). No setup or configuration is required.
How It Works
AI Insights lives in a panel on the right side of your Home page. When you click the Trovata AI icon in the top-right corner, the panel opens.
The panel displays five insight cards, each summarizing a different dimension of your treasury data from the previous business day. Every card includes an Explain with Trovata AI link that opens a conversation where you can ask follow-up questions about that specific insight.
At the bottom of the panel, a free-form chat input lets you ask any question about your data on the homepage, not limited to what the cards show.
What you see in the panel:
Position in Panel | Card | What It Shows |
1 | Data Integrity | How many of your accounts reconciled yesterday (i.e. "93 of 101"). |
2 | Transaction Health | Total transactions yesterday and the percentage of transactions that do not have Tags or G/L Tags applied. |
3 | Transaction Categories | A donut chart breaking yesterday's transactions into general categories like Deposits, Transfers, and Payables. These are general, and are not customizable at this time. |
4 | Currency Exposure | Your foreign currency cash exposure and how it changed over the past 7 days. |
5 | Cash Activity | Yesterday's total cash split into Active and Idle buckets. |
6 | Ask Trovata AI | A chat input to ask any question about your treasury data. |
To disable Trovata AI features for a user group, have your administrator navigate to Settings > User Groups, select the relevant group, open the Permissions tab, and deselect "Trovata AI."
Steps to Get Started
Opening AI Insights
Log in to Trovata. You land on the Home page.
Click the Trovata AI icon in the top-right corner of the page.
The AI Insights panel opens on the right side of your screen. The AI Insights tab is selected by default.
Reading the Insight Cards
Scroll through the panel to review all five cards. Each card provides a self-contained summary — no clicking required to get the headline number.
Cards refresh daily, reflecting your previous business day's data.
Diving Deeper on a Specific Card
On any card, click Explain with Trovata AI.
A conversation opens scoped to that card's topic. For example, clicking "Explain with Trovata AI" on the Data Integrity card lets you ask which specific accounts failed to reconcile and why.
The AI can surface filtered lists (e.g., untagged transactions, accounts with discrepancies) directly in the chat.
Asking a Free-Form Question
Scroll to the bottom of the panel and type a question in the "Ask Trovata AI" input field.
You can ask about anything visible on the Home page or related to the data behind the insight cards. Examples:
"What was our net cash position last week?"
"Show me our largest outflows this month."
"Which accounts haven't synced in 48 hours?"
Insight Details
Data Integrity
The reconciliation metric compares whether the change in each account's balance equals the net transaction activity for that day. An account that doesn't reconcile may be missing transactions or balance data.
Manual accounts (accounts you maintain yourself, rather than automated bank feeds) will show as non-reconciling if they haven't been updated or don't have a specific data component (i.e. they have a change in balance but no transactions). This is expected and does not indicate a data feed problem.
Consistent reconciliation gaps are worth investigating — but if they trace back to manual accounts you don't actively maintain, that's normal.
Transaction Health
Tags are flexible labels that add business context to transactions. Multiple tags can apply to a single transaction.
G/L Tags map transactions to general ledger codes. Each transaction can only have one G/L tag applied.
A high "Missing G/L Tag" percentage is common and expected if your organization hasn't set up G/L tagging. This is informational, not an error.
Transaction Categories
The category breakdown (Deposits, Transfers, Payables, Investments, Loans, Reversals & Adjustments, Fees & Taxes, Cash & ATM, Proprietary/Unknown) is generated automatically using transaction metadata. No tagging rules or configuration are needed.
This is a snapshot only. Transactions are not persistently tagged or categorized in Trovata based on these groupings. The card shows the top 4 categories by volume, with remaining activity grouped under "Other."
To see the full transaction list for any category, or understand which metadata terms its using to categorize, click Explain with Trovata AI and ask.
Currency Exposure
This card sums balances held in foreign (non-reporting) currencies and shows the percentage change over 7 days.
Positive % change = higher foreign currency exposure than last week
If your organization operates in a single currency, this card may show minimal or no exposure.
Cash Activity
Idle Cash: The sum of yesterday's ending balances for accounts with less than 2% net transaction activity over the past 30 days.
Active Cash: The sum of yesterday's ending balances for accounts with more than 2% net transaction activity over the past 30 days.
Idle Cash + Active Cash = your total cash position as of yesterday's close.
FAQ
Do I need to set anything up to use AI Insights?
No. AI Insights works automatically with your connected accounts. There is no configuration, rule-building, or setup required.
How often does the data refresh?
The insight cards update daily, reflecting data from the previous business day.
Can I customize which cards appear?
Not currently. All five cards are displayed and cannot be removed at this time.
What does "Explain with Trovata AI" do?
It opens a focused AI chat where you can ask follow-up questions about that specific card. For example, on the Data Integrity card, you can ask which accounts didn't reconcile and get a list with details.
Is the Transaction Categories card tagging my transactions?
No. The categories are a read-only snapshot generated from transaction metadata. They do not create or modify tags in your Trovata environment.
What can I ask in the free-form chat? Anything related to the data on your Home page. The AI chat is scoped to your treasury data — ask about cash positions, specific transactions, account sync status, trends, or anything the insight cards surface.
